WHEN SHOULD I BOOK A SESSION?

I typically accept bookings about three weeks ahead. The sooner we book, the more time I have to know your family. My sessions are on a first come, first served basis and there is a $50.00 booking fee to reserve a date.

WHAT TIME OF THE DAY?

Light is everything. Ideally sessions will take place around the lovely golden hour (one hour before before sunset), my favorite time of the day when skin looks soft and captures the emotions true to my work.

WHERE TO GO?

The season and the sun will play a role in our location choices. I love grassy fields, forests, mountains, and riverbanks. We will choose a location together during the planning and style consultation.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

Style is a part of what tells your story and help convey a specific emotion. Color choices, fabric, and movement make a huge impact on your photographs and I will guide you every step of the way on how to style your sessions. To get the most of your family photos, I suggest sticking to a color palette of about three colors. Please try to coordinate your family, but not to match. Parents in solids and kids in prints always look nice and make the kids stand out well. Before your session I'll go over your layout of your planned outfits to make sure they will help you love your photographs for years to come.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

I will observe the natural interactions with those you love. I have a set workflow of directed poses I work through, while capturing the candid in-between moments. Nothing too posed or stiff. I will direct you into some shots and encourage you to be yourselves, which means no awkward smiles and lots of relaxed good times.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

We, of course, hope for beautiful sunny days. If it happens to rain on your outdoor session date, we can reschedule for the next mutually convenient day. Asheville weather can be forgiving, so I prefer to wait until the last minute to reschedule.
